A fun one in the kitchen today courtesy of some homemade gummy bears! I found the recipe in the Bakerita cookbook by Bakerita and of course opted for the cinnamon add-on! This one uses local cider from Apple Hill too.
Full honesty, I had to make this one twice because I missed the “tips” note on the second page entirely and in this case gelatin to Agar Agar is not 1-to-1. As I was making it, I tried saving it by continuing to add more liquid, but I knew something had to be wrong and I was right.
Instead of 4 TBSP, it only needs 1 TBSP & 1 tsp total and the method is completely different. Imagine a soft ball sugar that’s also opaque and gummy in a bad way. 🤦♀️ Needless to say, round two looked incomparably better than round one!
Once I redid it, it was a much simpler process and one I would definitely do again experimenting with other juices and flavors. Definitely a cleaner alternative and cheaper than springing for a certified gluten free option.
If you are looking for some that are already made, Albanese company is one I’ve found locally in stores and online.
