It’s nearly my favorite season — autumn — even though it’s still in the high 90s or 100s. However, that also means it’s officially pumpkin season! Now I cook 95% of what I eat, but sometimes you have to treat yourself.
I have one big annual purchase Trader Joe’s that I make and last year I missed my chance and my family will tell you, I was bummed. I was determined to not make the same mistake twice so today I popped into the @traderjoes in Arden after work.
I have no shame in stating how excited I am that my tradition of buying 12 boxes of Pumpkin O’s is back! I ration it to one a month because cereal isn’t the best for you. This is great as a base for cheesecake (pumpkin or regular) around Thanksgiving, great as an add-in if you make your own snack mix and of course just great on its own.
I also picked up some chocolate chip cookies and bagels (pumpkin and regular) which I’ve had before and they’re all good. I couldn’t remember if I’d had the pumpkin butter before, so I grabbed one to try. New to me this time is the pumpkin waffle mix, the pumpkin bread mix and the regular Joe-Joe’s. So the verdict is still out on those three.
Again, none of this is healthy, but you can’t eat plain chicken and brown rice all the time! Also, sometimes you don’t want to spend the hours making something from scratch.
