Pushkin’s

If you’ve never heard of Pushkin’s and you’re within an hour of Sacramento, today is you’re lucky day!

Pushkin’s is not only a dedicated gluten free bakery and cafe, but it is a heaven-send for those looking to eat something “normal” without sacrificing taste.

I first visited Pushkin’s bakery back in 2015 when I was in the rut of “sometimes you just don’t want to make it yourself.” I have been back countless times since then. Currently, Pushkin’s has two locations and items in stores all around town.

Up first is the bakery! If you’re looking for a hot sandwich (on delicious gluten free bread) or a baked treat, this is going to be your spot! Just pop off the Business 80 on the P St. exit and you’ll be there in two minutes.

During the week, if I’m popping-in for lunch, I’ll call ahead and pre-order a sandwich. Once you’re in there you literally have an entire bakery full of options to choose from. Whether you’re feeling a scone, a cookie or a cupcake, you’re covered.

My personal seasonal favorite bakery item is the Pumpkin Bread. I easily bought 100 of these last season. If you’re in the area in the fall, definitely pick one (or five) up. These freeze well too… if you can wait that long!

Around the holidays, they Bakery will also come out with a pre-order menu that is a lifesaver for holiday dinners and parties. You can pre-order pies, rolls, and more.

Now onto location #2. Back in 2017, Pushkin’s opened their cafe on Capitol Ave. Here you can get REAL food! I’m talking breakfast, sandwiches, salads, bowls and of course, sweet-treats. My personal favorite here would have to be the plain waffle and a kombucha to drink.

If you’re looking for a place to take your non-GF friends, I’d suggest either of their locations. I’ve personally taken family and friends there time-and-time again and they’ve all loved it…. some even saying “I can’t believe this is gluten free.” You know that’s saying something!

2019 UPDATE!

Pushkin’s added a third location in Roseville in late June 2019. It’s just down the street from the Galleria. The menu is a cross between the cafe and the bakery with sit-down selections, sandwiches and of course baked goodies too. So if you’d in the parking lot grabbing a GF pizza from BJ’s for lunch, walk over to Pushkin’s and pick up dessert!
